So...What, Exactly Is A "Document"?

Somebody asked me what was meant by "document" in my definition of Managed Print Services.

Good Question.

Here's my answer:

"Any portable, presentation of information"

Wide Open.

From post cards, to Post-Its. From a handwritten letter to a three dimensional rendering.

Speaking of...

Enter the Personal Cubic Display - just another document...I know, mind blowing, isn't it...

  1. To be fair, what if you are presenting the data, but nobody is listening? Is it still a document? Would a more appropriate word be 'exchange'. On the flipside.....

I have a friend that would write 100+ page stories on his PC, re-read them, then delete them without sharing the stories with another person. I know, crazy huh? Would his stories be considered a document? I would argue that in order for data to become a document, it would require an exchange of knowledge.
