The Uncertain Future of Technology: Google & Facebook Will Not Survive.

It is difficult to predict the future of technology with certainty, as it is constantly evolving and new companies and technologies can emerge and disrupt the market. However, it is possible to make educated guesses about the direction in which technology is headed and to consider the potential challenges and opportunities that different companies and technologies may face.

One argument for the idea that Google, Facebook, and Twitter may not be a part of the future of technology is that these companies are reliant on business models that may not be sustainable in the long term. For example, Google and Facebook rely on targeted advertising as their primary source of revenue, which has come under increasing scrutiny due to concerns about privacy and the manipulation of public opinion. Twitter's business model is based on the sale of advertising and the collection of user data, which may also be vulnerable to changing regulations and consumer preferences.

Significant challenges and controversies in recent years.

Another argument is that these companies have faced significant challenges and controversies in recent years, which may have damaged their reputations and made them less appealing to users and investors. For example, Facebook has faced criticism for its handling of user data and the spread of misinformation on its platform, while Twitter has faced backlash for its handling of misinformation, hate speech, and abuse. These challenges may make it difficult for these companies to maintain their market position in the future.

It is also possible that new technologies and business models may emerge that are better suited to meet the needs and preferences of consumers and businesses, leading to the decline of these current tech giants. However, it is important to recognize that predicting the future of technology is inherently uncertain and that it is possible for any company, regardless of its size or market position, to face challenges and setbacks.

What market changes will force Google and Meta out of business?

It is unlikely that any single market change will force Google or Meta out of business. Both companies have established themselves as major players in their respective industries and have built up strong brand recognition and customer loyalty.

That being said, it is possible that changes in technology or market trends could impact the businesses of Google and Meta. For example, if a new search engine or virtual reality platform were to emerge that offered significantly better features or more value to users, it could potentially compete with Google and Meta and potentially impact their market share. Similarly, changes in consumer preferences or shifts in the overall economy could also affect the businesses of both companies.

However, it is worth noting that Google and Meta are both highly adaptive companies that have a track record of successfully adapting to changing market conditions. As such, it is difficult to predict with certainty what specific market changes might impact their businesses.

Here's the deal: every business, every sector, and every corporation follows a bell curve.  Many companies rarely see the edge,  their view clouded by success. The best organizations are the ones that can alter course while in the middle of turbulence, and come out stronger than before.  IBM's transformation is stellar, yet not unique.

My argument rests on the belief that the current batch of tech wizards have never seen adverse times and are unable to lead through adversity - not because there is little or no experience, but because at their core, success came early and without great bloodshed.

They've grown beyond their first, humble corporate vision statement.

What were googles first core values?

Google has a long history of promoting ethical business practices and has had a company code of conduct in place since its founding. The company's first code of conduct was known as the "Don't be evil" code, which was intended to reflect the company's commitment to conducting its business in an ethical and responsible manner. The "Don't be evil" code has since been revised to the "Do the right thing" code, which reflects the company's broader focus on using its resources and technology to benefit society and make the world a better place.

In addition to "Do the right thing," Google's current set of core values includes the following:
  1. Focus on the user and all else will follow
  2. It's best to do one thing really, really well
  3. Fast is better than slow
  4. Democracy on the web works
  5. You don't need to be at your desk to need an answer
  6. You can make money without doing evil
  7. There's always more information out there
  8. The need for information crosses all borders
  9. You can be serious without a suit
  10. Great just isn't good enough
These values reflect the company's focus on innovation, user experience, speed, and transparency, as well as its commitment to ethical business practices. The first value, "Focus on the user and all else will follow," has remained a central part of Google's core values and has been consistently emphasized by the company.

So, the question must be asked, "What is the difference between, 'Do no Evil.' and 'Do the Right thing'?

A bigger question is why did it change?

Well,  Google changed its motto from "Don't be evil" to "Do the right thing" in order to reflect the company's broader focus on using its resources and technology to benefit society and make the world a better place. The original motto was intended to reflect the company's commitment to conducting its business in an ethical and responsible manner. However, as the company has grown and its business has evolved, it has sought to expand its focus beyond simply avoiding harm and to actively work towards doing good in the world.

The revised motto, "Do the right thing," reflects this broader focus and emphasizes the company's commitment to making a positive impact on the world through its products and services. This revised motto also aligns more closely with the company's core values, which include a focus on using technology to improve the lives of people and make the world a better place.
