ChatGPT: The Next Step in Artificial Intelligence and Its Implications for the Workforce

I've been messing around with ChatGPT over the past week and let me tell you, things are about to change big time. 

To be honest, it's got me feeling pretty scared.

It's worth considering what would happen if we gave it more memory, access to the internet to continue updating its model

I had a few conversations with it, asking for advice on work, problems, and happiness. It was pretty generic, but not much different than talking to a therapist in the first or second session. I also asked if it was self-aware and tried to get it to come up with a way to become self-aware, but it just kept sticking to its standard disclaimer that it's just a language model and doesn't have emotions or consciousness.

We even played a few games of Go together, and when I asked it to play against itself, things fell apart. It even wrote a haiku for me about the complexities of life. I even asked it to write an outline for a book about alien ants battling humans on Mars, it was good.

The most important thing to note is that ChatGPT does all of this at a human level. 

Some suggest we've surpassed the Turing test and are rapidly approaching the level of AI in Ex Machina. Sure, it may not be perfect, but let's be real, humans aren't perfect either. The breadth of its abilities is astounding, and it's not hard to imagine how it could replace a lot of jobs.

It's worth considering what would happen if we gave it more memory, access to the internet to continue updating its model, and more time for longer tasks. It's a bit scary to think about, but it's definitely something worth considering.

P.P.S. Just to be clear, I'm not saying ChatGPT is a Skynet-type AI. I understand that it doesn't have emotions, plans, or consciousness.  

I'm just saying it's good enough to imitate a lot of human interactions, and as a result, it's good enough to replace a lot of white-collar jobs, artists, writers, copywriters, professors, teachers, clerks, CIOs, CFOs, CMOs, HR Departments, marketing, and salespeople. Lawyers, poets, critics, reporters, news readers, librarians, and animators, musicians.

Google, SEO, MS Office, email, PowerPoint, spreadsheets, paper, printers, printing, copying, faxing - all gone.

Imagine first connecting every database on the internet, every shred of data collected over all of time, with a GPT-like app and then connecting to a GPT-enhanced, 3D-bioprinter.
