Approach Document: Proposing an MPS S1 Engagement

MPS S1 Engagement

Introduction:

In this document, we will discuss a proposed MPS S1 Engagement and its benefits. This engagement aims to improve the current printing infrastructure and bring cost savings to the organization.

Current State:

A common issue across assessments is overcapacity, with 11x17 printers operating at 1% of volume, duplex printers at 4% of volume, and multiple printing devices in close proximity. This results in high costs and low efficiency. The situation is further complicated by the use of long-term leases and outdated printing technology.

Inspiring Example:

Last week, we attended a Lexmark MPS webinar where Columbia's Global IT, Mike Leeper, presented a successful MPS engagement story. After two years of implementation, the engagement resulted in a 37% cost reduction and a reduction of one million printed images. This successful engagement highlights the importance of moving decision-making from facilities, focusing on network-only devices, and continuously communicating internally to achieve a successful MPS engagement.

Commoditization Concerns:

While the manufacturers aim to commoditize MPS, this approach stifles creativity and reduces the potential for growth. Automated tools for creating proposals and marketing materials can kill the art of MPS. The goal should be to provide a tailored solution that meets the specific needs of the organization, rather than a generic one-size-fits-all approach.

Moving Forward:

After a productive conversation with a like-minded prospect, we have decided to move forward with an MPS S1 Engagement. This engagement will focus on reducing printing output and costs while taking into account the changing landscape of technology, including the Agile methodology, SaaS solutions, and social media's impact on the ultimate end-user.

Conclusion:

This proposed MPS S1 Engagement has the potential to bring significant benefits to the organization. By focusing on reducing printing output and costs, the engagement will help modernize the printing infrastructure and improve efficiency. This is an opportunity for the organization to embrace change and take advantage of the latest technology.
