One never knows when lightning strikes, or where inspiration springs and so it happened to me this morning.  Each Wednesday, I click into a web session hosted by West and Ed (Level Up)on a plethora of different subjects and guests.  This week  Bob Johanson, who just wrote his 13th book, "Office Shock" was on to talk about the great changes we've been experiencing and the changes we are and will experience.  I can't recommend this 29-minute session enough - so good to hear somebody else on the same page.

After The Fire - what people want now.

The fear of Covid initiated many different movements; social, and political, especially in redefining how we view the importance of work and what environments we work in.  Bob talked about what the new work ethic involves, from the employee's vantage:

Purpose in work: 

In the past, work was often seen as a means to an end, a way to pay the bills and put food on the table. But as the world changes, employees are looking for more from their jobs. They want to feel that their work has a purpose and that they are making a difference in the world. Employers who provide their employees with a sense of purpose and meaning in their work have a significant advantage in attracting and retaining top talent.

Flexibility in how and where you work from and for: 

One of the most significant changes in the workplace over the past year has been the shift to remote work. Many employees have found that they prefer working from home or from other non-traditional locations. This trend is will continue, and employers who offer their employees flexibility in terms of where and how they work possess a competitive advantage. Employees are looking for greater work-life balance, and flexibility can help to achieve this balance.

Gamer Culture is how we learn, communicate, and grow: 

Gamers are known for their ability to learn quickly and adapt to new situations, skills that are important in today's fast-paced business environment. Employers who embrace the gamer culture and leverage the skills of gamers are well-positioned for success in the years to come.

What sort of apps you ask?   There are companies out there that you've never even heard of that are bringing AI programs to market today. Think about all the daily activities you do - from cold calling, spreadsheets, and online meetings to note-taking and decision-making.

Keep selling copiers and hit that quota - BUT. For your future, get into AI today, on your own.  Don't wait for an 'expert' to come to you or for your dealership to hire some guru, seek mentors out today.
